Honestly, 2009 might have been the best year of my life.
I went to 53 shows and spent a majority of these shows with my best friends. I went to Indiana, Connecticut, and Maryland for shows for the first time. I spent two whole weekends with great tours and my favorite bands, also finding love for a few of my new favorites- The Summer Set, The Bigger Lights, and Down With Webster. Discovered The Friday Night Boys when I was introduced to them by Caleb. I talked to Chris Conley and he was the nicest man maybe ever. I met Madison and Kait! Krysten pretty much became my best friend from barely talking in the past. I saw This Providence nine times in one year, a band that I had pretty much disregarded in the past. I made great new friends in Indiana and Columbus. I went to meet and greets of bands that know me and just laughed with them and had some great talks. Took a daily Robi picture of him eating icecream at The Tavern. Compared flop tans with John Ohh. I saw Nick Santino knock over a pop can on his bus during an interview, and just leave it for another person to clean up. I talked to Gabe Saporta on my birthday for over an hour, for maybe the last time ever. Had so much fun at the Baymont and looking for KB. Made friends with Wapner after previously disliking him for no good reason at all and had a great weekend with him. Told Topher Talley way too much in a 3 minute conversation at Jingle My Bells- don’t even care. I got my license, finally. I drove so many places. I got a 4.0 in school for the first time since high school…and I transferred colleges, which surprisingly made me so much happier. Spent a ton of time with my family. Got pretty close with my brother and sister.
I don’t know why there’s so much hate for 2009, it was awesome. There are so many more memories that I can’t even think of right now. Even my grandma passing away couldn’t put a damper on the year. I love my friends, I love the bands I get to see all the time, and I couldn’t be happier right now.
